JARED KENNEDYJARED KENNEDY

Jared Kennedy

Responsibilities: Director of SojournKids. My role is to develop and implement the vision for SojournKids, the Children’s ministry of Sojourn Community Church. We want to see the kids of Germantown and greater Louisville grow to love Jesus in all of their lives. This means training parents to make Jesus central in their homes, training children to love Jesus through music, the arts, Bible study, community, and service, and staffing for all kids’ Bible classes and childcare.

Family: My beautiful wife Megan, and our two daughters Rachael Eden (02/04/05) and Lucy Noelle (12/05/06).

Hometown: Americus, Georgia

Education & Experience: BA, Toccoa Falls College, MDiv, ThM, Southern Seminary. While in college I did internships with Central Baptist Church in Americus, GA, with Grand Canyon Baptist Church in Tusayan, AZ, and with Georgia’s Intergenerational Elderhostel Program. I was ordained by Central Baptist in November 2003. I served as Minister of Education and Children at Rockford Lane Baptist Church in south Louisville from July 2003 through January 2006. In addition to duties at Sojourn, I currently teach Classical and Christian Studies to eighth graders at Highlands Latin School in Crescent Hill.

Vision for your position: To see the families of Germantown and greater Louisville grow to love and trust Jesus. To see dads lead their families spiritually. To see our kid’s lives changed by Jesus.

What brought you to Sojourn?: Megan and I were friends with Trent and Elizabeth Deloach in college. They invited us.

Favorite movie/ TV show: Megan and I enjoy 24 and House.

Favorite music/ band: I don’t listen to music all that much, but Rachael and Lucy really enjoy the Teach Me While My Heart Is Tender CD by Judy Rogers. The Christmas music tradition at our home is Manheim Steamroller.

Favorite book other than the Bible: Paul: An Outline of His Theology by Herman Ridderbos; my favorite books to read to my girls (really just Rachael since Lucy eats the pages) are Read-Along Bible Stories by Ella K. Lindvall and Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McClosky.

Hobbies/interests: Megan and I enjoy working out at the Downtown YMCA and strolling at the Louisville Zoo. We also enjoy a competitive game of Scrabble.
