Responsibilities: Coordinating childcare for SojournKids for various events as well as Community Groups.
Family: My husband Drew Bowman
Hometown: Torrance, California
Education & Experience: I attended Calvary Chapel Bible College for one semester before I decided I wanted to teach. I’m currently going to U of L in pursuit of a special education teaching degree. I’ve had a range of odd jobs from being a prep cook to tutoring to more recently formulating productivity reports for UPS.
Vision for your position: To communicate the importance and weight of childcare at Sojourn to childcare workers. Theirs is not a mundane or unimportant task but practically holds the future of our church body. I really want the kids at Sojourn and in the community to hear, know and see the gospel.
What brought you to Sojourn?: A friend invited me. I was really affected by Sojourn’s inward community life and dedication also to the outward community.
Favorite movie/ TV show: Favorite movie would have to be Moulin Rouge. TV isn’t something I engage in much…but I’ve really started to like Flight of the Concords more recently.
Favorite music/ band: MewithoutYou, Derek Webb, Matt Costa, Death Cab For Cutie, Ben Folds…anything that can either calm me, or really make me think.
Favorite book other than the Bible: Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon
Hobbies/interests: I love to play volleyball, hiking, swimming, anything outside. I also like to collect children’s books for my future classroom.
