Worship Arts

“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."

–Jesus' words from John 4:23-24 [1]

Often we relegate worship to the few limited activities that we engage in together on Sundays - singing, praying and listening to a sermon. Fortunately for us, the reality of worship is much larger than that. In the new reality ushered in through Jesus' life, death and resurrection, we are "living sacrifices" (Romans 12:1 [2]), able to "draw near" to the presence of the Father (Hebrews 10:1 [3]) and worship Him in spirit and truth. This enables us to joyfully live out our lives in His presence, with His grace and for His glory.

It is our hope as a community that we could learn to live out that reality in whatever calling the Lord has given us. We are truly blessed to have a community that loves and values the arts, and for that reason we've united together to try to share that passion and direct to God, singing His songs, telling His stories and using the arts to expand our imaginations.

There’s nothing sacred about the arts. We’ve often said that if we were a community of carpenters and plumbers, we’d have a building and renovating ministry. But, as a community of creative people, we learn to worship and serve with the gifts God has given us. Though the arts are as fallen and sinful as anything else man puts his hands on, they’re also as capable of renewal through the Gospel. That is our hope; that the glory of Christ would be known in our community as we create together, observe together and see His glory in our lives.

Over the last several years, we've recorded five CD projects, done numerous creative events within the community, and published a 2005 calendar of photography by artists from the community.
