We partner with the non-profit New Roots to provide Fresh Stop Markets to New Albany every other week from summer through early fall. These are farm-fresh food markets that pop up in "fresh food insecure" neighborhoods. The food has been paid for in advance so that local farmers don’t face the same degree of risk as they do with a standard farmers’ market. Those with low incomes and those who are on WIC or the SNAP program (formerly called "food stamps") pay much less.
Email our Fresh Stop coordinator Gemma Newland to help serve.
You can either help us set up, tear down, or host these events -- or do all three:
- Setup: 2:30-4:30pm, every other Thursday.
- Event time: 4:30-6:30pm
- Tear down: 6:30-7pm
Here are all the dates for 2021: THURSDAYS 6/10, 6/24, 7/8, 7/22, 8/5, 8/19, 9/2, 9/16, 9/30, 10/14, 10/28
NOTE: If you want to order shares of produce yourself, tap here to fill out the form online or download the free
New Roots Fresh Stop Market" app in the Apple app store or the Android Google Play Store.
