About

Prayer is the Work is a 4-month campaign focused on discipleship, generosity, and diversity. However, instead of carving out time for special prayer events, we’re asking people to incorporate brief prayer into their existing social rhythms. Wherever Midtowners sit and meet together, we’re asking them to take just a few minutes to lift up an item or two from the list below.

Prayer Guide

Diverse Fellowship
  • For our church to be unified in our vision of diverse fellowship
  • For us to pursue our value of diverse fellowship with the appropriate urgency,  but without anxiety or a performance mindset
  • For ethnicities and classes of people who aren’t present in our church to come and be welcomed here
  • For minorities who worship at our church and work in predominantly white spaces to persevere with joy as the Lord calls and leads
  • For our worship ministry to find a diverse sound that glorifies God and helps cultivate a hospitable atmosphere for all

Generosity

  • Confess any ways our finances control our hearts and minds
  • For God to provide for all of our needs (Philippians 4:19)
  • For conviction and encouragement for our church to be faithful to giving commitments
  • For us to have joy and faith as we walk in obedience with our finances
  • That we would sow generously and reap generously (2 Corinthians 9:6)
  • That we would give cheerfully, not reluctantly or out of obligation (2 Corinthians 9:7)
Discipleship
  • For Midtown to increasingly resemble Jesus in the way he loves people and speaks the truth
  • That our church would be passionately united in our shared mission, wisely differentiating personal preferences from gospel essentials
  • That our members would grow into deeper love and refreshing friendship together (Ephesians 4:15–16)
  • That we would eagerly long for deeper spiritually, but in a way free from fear or pride
  • For our pastors and leaders to have supernatural wisdom and insight for their work
  • For us to approach spiritual discipline not as working for Jesus, but as being with Jesus
