The Baptism Testimony of Harper Owens

Baptism

When I was a little girl, I didn’t want to become a Christian because I thought it meant I couldn’t do anything fun. But I soon realized that was not the case. I saw people I knew who were Christians that had a lot of fun. I realized that the life of a Christian is more fun than it sounds. I’ve had a lot of biblical education, but also Christian music helped me realize I need Jesus.

One Sunday morning I was sitting next to my mom during the sermon when Pastor Jamaal said “sin is death,” and that immediately had my attention. The rest of the day I was thinking about what he said and listening to some old sermons. Later that evening at the Apologetics class, the teacher, Ms. Rochell, taught us that everyone is born a sinner. I realized every single sin I ever committed meant I had to die.

That night I cried out to Jesus confessing all my sin and asking for forgiveness. Then right in that moment I felt all of my sin and all of my burdens lifted off me, and I knew I had been redeemed. I’d never felt such strong joy as I did in that moment. It was the best moment of my life! I was so happy that I couldn’t hold back tears of joy!

The next morning I could not stop smiling! I talked to my parents and they said I had definitely been saved. Ever since then I want to build a strong relationship with Jesus and try my hardest to be like Him.

I know the life of a Christian is not always easy, but it’s worth it! It is such a comforting thought knowing Jesus has my back each and every day. I love Jesus with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength and I can’t wait to give Him a big hug in heaven!
